Catheters are mainly used for urethral catheterization, which can be used to collect urine specimens, do bacterial culture, measure the volume of bladder, relieve urinary retention, or monitor the inflow and outflow of critically ill patients. When catheters are performed on patients, sterile catheters should be used. For application, the front end of the catheter is first lubricated with sterile paraffin oil. The catheter was held with vascular forceps at the urethral opening and inserted gently into the urethra. The catheter was inserted 4-6cm in the female and 20cm in the male. The catheter was further inserted 1-2cm after the urine flow was observed. In the case of continuous catheterization, the catheter should be fixed to avoid prolapse.
